Limo
For Geology, silt is a type of mud or sludge formed by soil, plant remains, and organic matter carried in suspension by water currents and winds. As it settles along the banks of rivers, lagoons, and marshlands, it alters the ground or creates new land; this accumulation produces a fertile surface that fosters the emergence and growth of plant life.
In turn, “Limo”, this exhibition, celebrates the chance encounter between two projects: OTTO Galería (Buenos Aires) and Uncu (Jujuy), which took place in 2025 within the framework of the FAS Art Fair in Salta. One year later, that connection settles into the gallery space in Buenos Aires. *Limo* is the fertile intertwining of galleries, artists, and territories.
Works by artists and artisans from different regions including Jujuy, Tucumán, Baradero, Santiago del Estero, and Salta come together here. In their practices, thread, knot, and weaving transcend mere technique to become conceptual structures. As anthropologist Tim Ingold (1) suggests, the world is not an inert surface but a meshwork: a living web of lines that continuously grow, intersect, and become entangled. We do not inhabit the Earth as distant observers; rather, we are woven into its interior. We are threads in an infinite fabric that never ceases to knot, fray, and regenerate.
Within this constantly shifting meshwork, each artist’s work functions as a point of tension: a knot that holds its shape precisely because of the friction, weight, and interweaving of the histories and geographies that run through it. Knotting and weaving reveal themselves as rituals of transmutation that bind and mend in the pursuit of healing.
The works move between accumulation and shedding, ancestry and contemporaneity, memory and impermanence. This flow composed of materials, techniques, knowledge, and temporalities, finds in “Limo” a new territory in which to settle, giving rise to new forms of rootedness and transcendence.
