Rebeca Mendoza

Rebeca Mendoza was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1967, where she lives and works.

In her practice, working mainly in painting and occasionally encaustic, she explores the transmutation of inner states through color and form, drawing on ancient concepts—such as the golden ratio—as a point of departure, reimagining them through a contemporary lens.

Through chromatic planes and the intervention of line, her paintings seek to reveal, in the viewer, the transcendence that dwells within the visible.

She earned her degree in fine arts from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón and lived in New York between 1994 and 1999, where she was represented by Gallery Juno in Manhattan. Upon returning to Buenos Aires, she founded her own art education space, where she leads clinics, workshops, and mentorships. She is currently represented by OTTO Galería in Argentina and Artemisa Gallery in the United States.
